Beating Hearts Projects

Finish the passion project that’s been burning inside you. Overcome blocks, obstacles, and doubts in twelve weeks (and fall back in love with your work.)

How would it feel to breathe life into a passion project you’ve been putting off?

What if you could stop doubting your work and yourself and focus on creating the things you care about most?

How would it feel to move past rejection and fear so you can finally finish something meaningful?

And what if the process you used to get there was a creative act in and of itself?

✍︎

If those questions intrigue you, I have a few more:

✍︎ Do you want to dive deeper into your creative potential from a beautiful and vibrant place?

✍︎ Are you ready to develop a stronger connection with your inner knowing and creative process?

✍︎ Can you imagine sprawling out in a meadow on a great hair day with a No. 2 pencil and casually writing your magnum opus with complete grace and ease?

(No, me either, because this shit is actually hard. Which is why I write my opuses grumpily, over my cluttered desk, and with a cookie—but I do write them. And that’s why I designed this class.)

✍︎

It’s easy to tackle our work on the good days,

but I spent the last decade learning how to get through the tough ones, too. And there are always more tough days than easy ones.

So let me teach you what I’ve learned.

Beating Hearts Projects

A twelve-week course designed to help writers and creators unearth the projects they’ve buried under the floorboards.

(But that still cry out to them with an eerie intensity that would make Poe proud!)

Beating Hearts is NOT a ‘How To’ course.

There are plenty of classes that will teach you how to build your technical skills—but none address the most common, persistent, and painful obstacles that keep creatives from bringing their best work forward…

  • Procrastination & focus

  • Self-doubt & uncertainty

  • Feeling directionless (or, conversely, overwhelmed)

  • Handling rejection

  • Navigating ‘failure’

  • Creating routine & accountability

  • Dealing with dread when getting feedback

Those are just a few of the challenges I help clients overcome.

✍︎

The truth is, these feelings, blocks, and obstacles never go away.

But the good news is there are tools that address and mitigate them so you can get to work.

The better news? You can learn these tools once in this class and use them for the rest of your life.

The heart of the matter…

And what’s the best news of all, in my humble opinion?

That these tools are imaginative, soulful, and playful—creative tools for creative people!

You can apply them to your emotional blocks and obstacles. But you can also use them to develop and deepen your stories, characters, and ideas.

Course Outcomes

  • Tap into Your Intuition ✍︎

Cultivate your inner knowing and hone your instincts.

  • Identify Your Blocks ✍︎

Unearth and transform the subconscious blocks, outdated beliefs, and self-sabotaging behaviors that are holding you back.

  • Align with Your Values ✍︎

Use your core values to help you solve problems and take inspired action.

  • Increase Your Focus ✍︎

Shift your focus and attention to the work you love. Spend more time on—and have more energy for—the things that matter to you.

  • Stoke Your Imagination ✍︎

Tap into new areas of your brain and body in a way that ignites your imagination.

  • Create an Itinerary ✍︎

Guide your expedition with a map or itinerary that is aligned with your goals; use it to concentrate your efforts, organize your time, and stay accountable.

And when the class is over…

  • You’ll feel whole and connected. My clients no longer bury their deepest and most rewarding creations. They are tapped into the vital importance of bringing their projects forward.

  • You’ll experience more peace—and peace of mind. Past clients find that these tools and techniques “quiet the noise,” so they focus on their life and work instead of their doubts.

  • You’ll be more confident in your unique purpose as an artist. This method will help you evolve your creative work from a place rooted in personal value and meaning. It will also help you fully embrace and accept your distinctive role in bringing this work forward.

  • You’ll have a strategic plan and tool kit to finish your project. In addition to the energy process, we’ll use our time to discuss practical skills like where to distribute your work and how to pitch.

  • You’ll finally have your work in the world! Bringing a project to fruition will engender rewards and experiences you never thought possible. They may not be the rewards and experiences you expected, but when they are rooted in your incomparable vision and point of view, they will carry significant and surprising meaning and value.

About Anne!

You might be asking yourself, ‘Sure, sounds nice, but why work with this lady?’

I’ll do the obligatory boast about my credentials: a creator/writer credit on a Netflix Original show already in its second season. Ghostwriting assignments. An elite education. Internationally broadcast documentaries, including one that premiered Opening Night at Sundance and was nominated for an Emmy—

But those are the least interesting things about me.

✍︎

It wasn’t an easy road to get here. One of my parents had severe mental health issues, causing me to struggle with self-esteem and self-sabotage most of my life.

Even as I sabotaged, my ego still did everything it could to improve my situation: an advanced degree, high-profile jobs, meditation, and therapy galore, but I kept hitting walls—most of my design.

I also struggled to fully experience joy and other positive emotions, convinced my suffering was noble, necessary, and something I deserved.

✍︎

It wasn’t until I found an ‘energy coach’ that things started to change. Soon, I was clearing blocks, healing wounds, and achieving things I never thought possible (like a Netflix show!)

In addition to my professional writing, I spent the past fifteen years working as an educator and documentary film producer. In both roles, I found myself coaching. That’s when I realized that coaching is one of my passions—and my gifts.

I like to think it’s because not only do I see the best in creators, I bring out the best in them.

✍︎

As a film professor at Northwestern University in Qatar (NUQ), one of my students was nominated for a Student Oscar, and another had his documentary purchased by Al Jazeera. NUQ undergrads that I mentored went on to USC, UCLA, and NYU film schools.

✍︎

However, my coaching success extends to my professional career as well.

The most important work I do as a producer is helping directors through adversity, obstacles, and doubt. I take that job seriously, and as a result, the projects I’ve produced have been award-nominated and nationally distributed, creating a launch pad for the directors.

✍︎

None of this is by accident, coincidence, or luck. It happened because I know how to take people to the next level in their creative lives and careers.

Intrigued?

Let’s pull back the first floorboard together!

The first step is to book a complimentary 60-minute UNEARTH MY PROJECT’S BEATING HEART session.

This call is designed to reveal another layer of your project, activate your creativity, and allow you to explore and experience the process of energy work.

So? Why bother?

Because this feeling isn’t going to go away.

So? Who cares?

I do. And so do you. And while we’re at it, your community does, as well—because there’s a reason your work needs to exist the world.

And if you made it this far, let’s be real: your energy is already in class.

(So we hope the rest of you comes along with it.)
